I have a asus m5a97 r2.0 motherboard which has a uefi bios with mouse interface. i have a 1 tb hdd on which i am trying to install windows 7 x64. i have converted the partition to gpt using. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 could install on a legacy bios using mbr. however windows 8, 8.1 and 10 were designed to install on the uefi bios using the efi bootloader and gpt. note : any repairs done to the root of a hard drive, has the possibility that the repair may go wrong.. Windows detects that the pc was booted into uefi mode, and reformats the drive using the gpt drive format, and begins the installation. to manually wipe a drive and convert it to gpt: turn off the pc, and put in the windows installation dvd or usb key.. Method 2: convert gpt to mbr during windows 7 install without data loss step 1: download aomei partition assistant . insert a cd or a usb flash drive to another working computer running windows 10/8/7, and launch aomei partition assistant..
